Before we get started, I’d like your input. I want this community to grow in a way that most benefits you.
I Am Happy has been evolving since I started writing, more or less on a whim, six months ago. I had no clear plan - my wonderful friend
suggested that I should try Substack because she felt it would suit my writing style. So I tried it and I’m so thrilled that I did. Substack has become my absolute favourite space online, where I’ve met so many incredible, kind, compassionate and supportive humans. There’s an amazing community here that I’m thrilled to be a part of, and I continue to be stunned, overjoyed and deeply grateful that so many people in that community show up to read my writings, and then generously share their thoughts on that writing. Even more wonderful, some of you have chosen to pay to support that writing and to access more of it - I am so, so grateful that you value my work, thank you.So now I’ve fallen in love with Substack, I’m wanting to go all in. This platform and community is something that I am keen to grow. I’d love to further build my following so we can have a really active community here, and I’d also love to give enough value and joy to you all that more people choose to become paid subscribers, so that I can make enough money from this platform to enable me to commit more of my time to it. My dream is to make a living from writing, giving me greater flexibility to spend time with my little family, and enabling me to dedicate myself full-time to a joyful life of creativity. But, of course, you’re not going to pay for it unless it’s giving you what you want. So I’d love to hear what you’d really like.
Creative sparks
First of all, let’s talk about these sparks. Up until now, I’ve been giving you daily prompts to help you build a daily practice, but is a prompt a day too much to keep up with? Does it give you what you need or do you find it overwhelming? Would a prompt for the week, maybe with a few different suggestions for how to explore it across the seven days, work better?
I’ll still provide the calendar for paid subscribers, that gives you seasonal and astrological events across the month, along with a simple prompt (a word or two) to think about that day.
Daily or weekly prompts, what would you prefer?
(I’m carrying on with daily for now, and the usual week’s worth of prompts are below.)
Paid options
I love creating these newsletters, but they take up a great deal of time and energy. So I’ve made the decision to make alternate posts of the main I Am Happy newsletter paid only. So free subscribers will get one post every other week, whereas paid subscribers will get one every week.
I’ve been thinking about what else I can give you that would add value for my amazing paid subscribers (and what might entice some of you to join that, currently quite intimate, group). I want to focus on what most people are interested in (at least for now, and I can expand what I offer as the community grows), so I’d love to know which of the following most take your fancy:
If you have any other thoughts on any of the above, I’d love to hear. If you’re not a paid subscriber yet, what would make it worth paying for to you? If you are a paid subscriber, what do you enjoy and what would you like more of? (Don’t forget, if you’re not a paid subscriber yet, you can always grab a seven day free trial to check out what it’s all about! You should see that option when you hit the Upgrade button below.)
Right, let’s get on with this week’s prompts.
This week we’re focusing in on understanding what we want to achieve with our regular creative practice, and making habits that stick. We’re also going to be listening to what we truly want, deep in our souls, not what we think we’re supposed to want.
