I'm starting today (starting late, but that's okay - and fitting of today's challenge.
I had a creative writing professor who had us bring in writing rules to class from different sources - often from well-meaning "how-to" writer books/memoirs. Then we were to pick one and write a piece breaking our chosen rule.
I chose the "never start with weather". I wrote a story about a record falling in love with the girl who owned it, and started it with:
“It’s been eight months since she last picked me up. It was April, late April, no rain
though,” Musicorthemorningafter murmured, leaning his vinyl frame to the left, his soft tones
trying to shutter up hurt like it was an unwanted, too sunny morning.
It was midnight, though, with no sun anywhere. There was rain, a lot of it, three days and
four nights' worth, despite the cliché that “it never rains in Southern California.”

Allegra, dear one, is there a way to mute the music without muting you and your wisdom?
It's giving me anxiety that's drowning you out. Can you help please?
