Darkness
The dark can be scary. We tend, in western culture, to associate darkness with things being hidden, threatening or buried.
But there’s a lot of magic that takes place in the darkness, too.
In a moment, we’ll look at some ways that you can explore this prompt in your creative practice, but first let’s examine some of the meanings that darkness has for us.
What darkness means
All new life begins in the dark. This period of winter is the fertile void - the trees and plants might look dead, but so much is going on beneath the soil to prepare new creations ready to burst into the light when spring comes.
Winter is the dreaming time. Dreams, those visions of other worlds that can only come to us in the night. How can you tap into and harness your dreams more during this season?
