I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve been thrust into 2024 at high speed. For all that I love to lean into the energy of retreat and turning inward that winter brings, the outside world had other plans for my January. I’ve been wrapping up a book, that’s now gone off to the publishers (gulp!) and it’s been a busy start to the year for my business. Don’t get me wrong, these are fantastic challenges to have. But I wasn’t quite ready to leave my winter cocoon, and now I feel a bit discombobulated. Winter is the dreaming time, where we can allow our visions for the future to shift, nebulous and half-glimpsed out of the corners of our eyes, while they begin to take shape in the faded light. Now I feel like I’ve been shaken awake in the middle of my dream, which always leaves a vaguely unsettled sensation in my body.
But time marches on. This week we marked Imbolc, the sounding of the horn that spring has begun to stir. It’s not here yet - sitting in my home on the south coast of the UK, wrapped under a blanket with icy fingers and toes, I can confirm, it’s definitely still winter in the northern hemisphere. But spring is on its way. Time to get ready.
Finding the seeds within you
Whatever dreams you had during the darkest months of winter, whatever ideas have been swirling around in your soul, it’s time to give them shape. It’s time to plant them into the soil and nurture them ready to grow. Allow your shoots to stretch towards the light.
Spring isn’t here yet, there’s no need to rush into anything full tilt (unless you really want to!). This is more about giving form and shape to your visions. Whatever emotions and environment you were hoping to craft in 2024, here is where you can begin to define what that looks like in practice.
Below is a worksheet to help you clarify what you want to nurture as spring approaches. What’s calling to your soul? What big dreams have you been trying to discount as impossible, but they just won’t go away? What light do you long to run towards? What light is burning deeply within you? Once you know what you truly want, you can plan how to nurture it, what actions to take to move it forward, how you can bring it into the light come spring?
Let’s go!
