Last week I talked you through everything I know about getting yourself or your business featured in the media. That piece looked at how you can be written about or quoted by journalists in pieces they’re creating. This week, I’ll be sharing everything I know about how you can get your own pieces published in mainstream media, credited under your own name.
I write semi-regular opinion columns for national newspapers i News and The Independent, and I’ve written one-off pieces for a lot more newspapers and magazines. It’s not an easy world to break into, but it’s such an exciting feeling to see your name and your headshot there above your own words. It’s also a great way to build your credibility as a writer, and I’m sure it was a big help to me in attracting a publisher for my forthcoming book.

If you’re a free subscriber, please bear in mind that this is knowledge that it has taken me years, plus a fair amount of blood, sweat and tears, to build up, so I’d be grateful if you could upgrade to access the piece. It’s still November, so my 40th birthday offer of 40% off is still available - meaning you can bag a subscription for less than £5 per month for a whole year. Bargain!
Right, let’s go.
