Welcome to your monthly dose of creative wellness to support you on your road less travelled. In these posts I offer you some exercises to listen to your inner voice, express your deepest feelings and connect to self-belief when it feels like the world is trying to keep you in a box that wasn’t made for you. You’re not alone - we’re all breaking out of those boxes together.
There’s something bothering you. That’s what led you here. Something tugs at your heart, when you have a moment alone to think. Sometimes it keeps you awake at night. It is almost indefinable, just a vague sensation that something isn’t right, that something should be different. That there are other possibilities, another life, waiting for you just behind the hazy edges of this one, that blurry outline that you occasionally catch in your peripheral vision.
You’re not alone. Most of us spend a great deal, if not all, of our lives feeling that something we can’t name - or that we’re not willing to name - is not quite right. But we hold ourselves back from taking action. Why?
Because it’s scary. Because human beings fear change, and we’ll put up with a lot of crap when it feels familiar rather than brave the discomfort and uncertainty of the unknown. Because we’re afraid of our dreams - we feel we don’t deserve them, or that we’ll fail and look silly, or that we’ll succeed and find it wasn’t all we’d hoped it would be. Because someone, somewhere, told us it was impossible, or not for us.
It is scary. But you know what’s far more terrifying? Getting to the end of your life and realising you never tried. That you never leaned into your joy. That you never lived.
So in this month’s workshop, we’re going to be harnessing the potential energy of the new moon to work on some exercises that will help you build up the courage to identify and go after what you really want. Because on the other side of that fear, it’s all there waiting for you.
