Happy Autumn Equinox!
Here in the northern hemisphere, Saturday marks the official start of autumn. (And happy Spring Equinox to readers in the southern hemisphere!) It is the moment that the days and nights hang in perfect balance, before the days become gradually shorter and the nights longer until we reach the Winter Solstice.
Autumn is my favourite season. It’s still warm enough to spend a lot of time outside, but getting cool enough to wrap myself in cosy jumpers. I will soon be able to light a fire in the evenings, and sit writing or reading under a soft blanket. Nature becomes truly resplendant - it is a celebration of colour and abundance as the leaves blaze red, yellow and orange, and the harvest gives up its bounty. It’s a great time for foraging and baking.
It’s also a time of release. This final blaze of glorious colour is nature’s act of letting go. The leaves fall, making space for new growth.
It is a perfect opportunity for reflection, celebration and creativity. So below you’ll find some reflection prompts, an equinox ritual, and six creative sparks that you can use to tune into the power of this new season.
